Sam has woken up enough to pull his own breathing tube out. Apparently it really irritated him.
The doctor had to make his incision a little longer in front than he initially thought - so it's lower than the old one used to be. They had to pull the whole defibrillator out in order to rewire it as well and it was tight getting it out and tight getting it back in.
He'll be in the PICU at least 24 hours.

So happpy he is out of surgery!!! We are praying for a quick recovery both physically and emotionally. Your entire family is in our prayers!!
You don't know us but we're fellow heart parents and friends with Adam & Kendall. Praise God for such a successful surgery. Dr. Stewart and Dr. Buck are wonderful docs, we love them! Praying for a speedy recovery for Sam. I remember that he and my son Ethan were there at the same time on the CICC floor about 2 years ago and that's the first I remember learning about Sam. Ethan still has one more heart surgery to go as well but we haven't been given a date yet - all we know is it'll be sometime in the next 2-3 years.
